What we keep, and why.

The checkout asks for your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, city and optionally a postal code and a note about the delivery. If you mark the order as a gift, we also keep the recipient’s name.

We keep this alongside what you ordered, what it cost, and how far along the order is. The studio uses it to make the perfume, deliver it, and talk to you about it.

The studio may also email you a receipt for the order, to the address you gave. Apart from that, the site emails you nothing unless you ask for more — see below.

If you make an account, we keep your email address and a securely scrambled form of your password (the password itself is never stored), so you can sign in and see your orders.

There is a tick box at checkout, and it starts empty. Leave it alone and your address is used for your order and nothing else — no newsletter, no offers, and your details are never sold or passed to anyone for marketing.

Tick it and the studio may email you occasionally when it blends something new. We record that you ticked it, on the order you ticked it on, so it is always clear what you agreed to and when. Every one of those emails carries a way to stop them, and you can also just reply and say so, or write to the address at the bottom of this page.

Only to run your order and look after you as a customer: to make and deliver what you ordered, to confirm payment, to contact you about the order, to handle a cancellation or refund, and to spot and stop fraudulent orders. We never sell your details.

Card and bank details. Bank transfers are arranged with the studio directly. Where card payment is offered, you enter your card on the secure page of our payment provider, PayHere — the card number never reaches this website and is never stored by us.

On Supabase, a hosted database, in their Singapore region. The website itself runs on Hostinger. Both are used as suppliers — they store and serve the data on our behalf and do not use it for anything of their own.

Everything between your browser and this website travels over an encrypted connection. The database refuses to hand order details to the public website at all: they can be read only by the studio’s own signed-in staff, and each order’s page opens only with that order’s private link or its reference and email address together. Passwords are stored scrambled, never as typed.

What is in your bag and which perfumes you have hearted are stored by your own browser, on your own device. They are not accounts and they never reach us until you actually place an order. Clearing your browser data clears them.

There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, and no third-party tracking script on this site. We do not know who you are before you order and we do not follow you afterwards.

The only cookies the site sets are sign-in cookies, and only if you sign in to an account — they keep you signed in and nothing else. Browsing and ordering without an account sets none.

We share your details only as far as each of these needs them to do their part, and with no one else:

• The courier who delivers your parcel sees your name, phone number and delivery address.
• PayHere, if you pay by card, handles the payment.
• Resend sends the order emails, and a phone notification service carries the new-order alert to the studio’s own phone.
• Supabase and Hostinger store and serve the website and its data, as above.

Photographs are loaded from images.unsplash.com and from theperfumestudio.lk. Those hosts see the request for the image, as any image host does.

Links to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok only do anything when you tap them, and then you are on their site under their terms.

Orders are kept as business records. If you want yours removed, message the studio with your order reference and it will be deleted, other than anything we are required to keep for tax.

Every order has its own page showing the receipt and where it has got to. You can find it here with your reference and email address. To correct an address or have anything removed, message the studio — that is the fastest route and a person will do it.
