What we keep, and why.
The Perfume Studio, No 9, R A De Mel Mawatha, Bambalapitiya, Colombo. This describes exactly what the website collects. It is deliberately specific rather than general — if something is not listed here, the site does not do it.
What you give us when you order
The checkout asks for your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, city and optionally a postal code and a note about the delivery. If you mark the order as a gift, we also keep the recipient’s name and the message you want on the card.
We keep this alongside what you ordered, what it cost, and how far along the order is. The studio uses it to make the perfume, deliver it, and talk to you about it.
We also send you a receipt for the order, to the address you gave. That is the only email the site sends you unless you ask for more — see below.
Email about new perfumes — only if you ask
There is a tick box at checkout, and it starts empty. Leave it alone and your address is used for your order and nothing else — no newsletter, no offers, and your details are never sold or passed to anyone for marketing.
Tick it and the studio may email you occasionally when it blends something new. We record that you ticked it, on the order you ticked it on, so it is always clear what you agreed to and when. Every one of those emails carries a way to stop them, and you can also just reply and say so, or write to the address at the bottom of this page.
What we never see
Card details. The site takes bank transfer and cash on delivery. No card number is ever entered on this website and none is stored. If card payment is added later it will go through a payment provider’s own page, and the details will still never reach us.
Where it is kept
On Supabase, a hosted Postgres database, in their Singapore region. The website itself runs on Vercel. Both are used as suppliers — they store and serve the data on our behalf and do not use it for anything of their own.
Only the studio can read orders. The database refuses to return order data to the public website key at all; it is reachable only by a signed-in member of the studio.
Your bag and your wishlist stay on your device
What is in your bag and which perfumes you have hearted are stored by your own browser, on your own device. They are not accounts and they never reach us until you actually place an order. Clearing your browser data clears them.
No tracking
There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, and no third-party tracking script on this site. We do not know who you are before you order and we do not follow you afterwards.
The only cookies the site sets are the sign-in cookies for the studio’s own admin area. As a customer you are never given one.
Other companies involved
Photographs are loaded from images.unsplash.com and from theperfumestudio.lk. Those hosts see the request for the image, as any image host does.
Links to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok only do anything when you tap them, and then you are on their site under their terms.
How long we keep it
Orders are kept as business records. If you want yours removed, message the studio with your order reference and it will be deleted, other than anything we are required to keep for tax.
Seeing or changing your order
Every order has its own page showing the receipt and where it has got to. You can find it here with your reference and phone number. To correct an address or have anything removed, message the studio — that is the fastest route and a person will do it.
